Magic 101 *Pt. 2*

Hey Guys!

   Well, this post was a LONG time coming! I meant to make more of these posts earlier but so much stuff happened that those took priority! The topic of discussion today is one of my various Powers, more specifically my Fairy Power. Now this isn't really a legit "Power", but rather a set of Spells I use in tandem to make a Fairy-like effect.

   How it works is that I can use my wand to cast the initial spell that will shrink me to Fairy size(roughly 3 inches tall), and if PomPom is with me she will shrink down as well to prepare for the next spell. For that I trigger a magical fusion of PomPom to the Opal in my pendant. When this happens her wings will then sprout onto my back and I have full usage of them, and there ya go! I can even trigger the fusion spell when I'm full size too for more traditional flight.

   I've already talked about how useful these Spells are in "A Chain Link Escape", but let me tell you about the pros and cons of this form. The perks are that I'm small enough to sneak away from or to anywhere under minimal cover, although my fairy trail makes this tricky. I'm also small enough to fit in pockets, more specifically the chest pockets on the Bros. overalls. It's a fun vantage point to be at and it's cozy! They even sometimes check on me every once in a while to make sure I'm okay. On top of that, I can fly super fast! They say I can fly as fast as Sonic can run! And then there are the cons of being a fairy. Yes, as fun as being small is it also leaves me very vulnerable and VERY fragile. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into trouble because I was caught in middle of conflict as a fairy. I'm also significantly weaker when I'm small too, so it's not like I can protect myself in case I get separated from the guys.

   There was even a point when I didn't have the fusion spell, so when I shrunk I was REALLY vulnerable! I even have a story from this happening one time. It was a few years back after I had received my wand thanks to Rosalina, and it was right around then that I learned the shrinking spell, albeit by accident. One night, I was in my room lying in bed when I slightly lost control of my magic for a moment and triggered the shrinking spell of all things. So here I am, 3 inches tall sitting on my now gigantic bed at about maybe 8:30 at night. I wanted to get PomPom to help me, but she was already fast asleep, so that wasn't an option. And for some reason I thought one of the Bros. could help me, so I made the trek out of my room by climbing down my sheets to the floor and across the hall to the guy's room.

   By the time I get there though they were both asleep, so my next task was to wake one of them up(yeah stupid right?). Of course I knew there was no way in waking up Luigi, so I aimed for Mario instead. I run up to the base of his bed, which was huge, and saw that some of the sheets were low enough for me to grab. I then grabbed on and started to climb, but I was so tired by the time I got to that point that I had no strength to climb any higher. All I could do was use the remaining strength in my arms and legs to hang on for dear life. But then Mario had started to shift in bed and that caused the sheet to move under me. I was starting to lose my grip when I gave a small yelp in response. And I swear either Mario's a light sleeper or it's instinct, but he heard me clear as day and turned and looked over the side of the bed to see me clinging to the sheets scared out my mind. At first he was surprised I was there, but he kept his composure and proceeded to reach down and grab me around the waist with his index finger and thumb like a claw to airlift me to his level. After he checked to see I was okay, he then gave me a small lecture about being more careful and to watch if my magic was stable before I turned in. He wasn't mad at me or anything, he was just worried that I could've been seriously hurt. After all of that he took me back to my room and told me that I might be back to normal by morning if my magic allowed it, and I actually did grow back to regular size later that evening.

   After that day I took my magic studies very seriously and they eventually got to where they are now. But one thing's for sure, I NEVER want to be in that situation again! Being so small on the bare floor was terrifying! I have definitely learned my lesson from that!
