Remember that story I told you a while back when the Bros., PomPom and I were stuck in Bowser's dungeon? Well, my Blog Editor Kathryn has pulled through again and has turned the story into an actual book just for you guys! She and I are SO happy with how it came out! We decided to set up its own separate page here so you can give it a read! But remember: NO STEALING! If you steal this artwork without referencing us, WE WILL FIND YOU! Blog ya soon guys! Enjoy!

Will you be publishing this? I'd love a physical copy!
ReplyDeleteHi! It's Dana! I'm here talking on my Blog Editor's behalf. We both are super happy you like the story! But before we can even consider publishing this we do need to make sure what the guidelines are for publishing fan-fiction with copyrighted content in it(This was our first time writing something like this). But regardless of that my Editor and I really appreciate your... appreciation...? LOL You know what I mean! Thanks again!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading your short visual e-book "A Chain Link Escape" and I thought it was really well done. I enjoyed the juxtaposition between Danielle Corona and the Mario Bros., particularly how Danielle's powers were actually a mirrored subtextual commentary on the powers of the Mario Bros. in the games! I also enjoyed how subtly Mario's redemption was handled at the end of his arc when he revealed he was only playing a ruse on Danielle. I felt Luigi's character was a little under utilized but it was a nice detail to see that he sleeps deeper than Mario (Dream Team, anyone?) Overall it was very enjoyable, however I have a few questions.
1.) Danielle's wand seems pretty powerful! Could she not have just gone through the sleeping castle and eliminated the guards one-by-one? Since they're in Bowser's castle, there are many lava pits around on multiple floors that could be used to hide the bodies. Just a minor detail. I understand the sleeping spell and the PG nature of the book, but I felt a little grit and darkness can actually accentuate an otherwise PG work of fiction. For example, in the G-rated A Bug's Life (Disney, 1998), at the end of the story the main antagonist is actually fed to a trio of baby birds. We don't see the violence, of course, but even the implication is enough to both amp up the tension as well as provide a very satisfying catharsis for those who felt the villain was getting his 'just desserts' (see what I did there? ;) ) I hope I didn't spoil the movie for you! I'm just trying to illustrate a point.
2.) Why did Danielle hide from Luigi when she heard him start to wake up? Wouldn't it have been better for her to reveal herself as soon as possible so they could both assist in Mario's escape? It seems a little silly that she hides only for Luigi to discover her a moment later. It might work better for the story to eliminate unnecessary plot beats like this in the interest of pacing. Just a note!
3.) It's made clear by the ending that Danielle Corona lives with the Mario Bros. (as they head back to 'the' house) but I'm confused as to their relationships. Is she involved romantically with one of them, or are they tri-lovers? Is she acting like a surrogate mother to them (I don't think the Mario Bros. have a canonical mother), or is she more of an adoptive daughter? I only ask because the relationship between Danielle Corona and the Mario Bros. can affect the narrative greatly depending on the context.
Anyways, these minor hiccups aside, I can't wait to see what you do next. Perhaps you could feature Birdo in your next visual e-book? I have an idea for a great scene involving Danielle Corona, Birdo and the Mario Bros.!
Hi there! This is Dana! I really appreciate that you like my story! I wanted to answer your questions that you posted earlier.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, yeah, my magic is pretty strong! It even took ME a while to grow into them! And I agree I could've easily taken out all of those guards in one swoop, but that would've been too easy and obvious! Plus, it was REALLY late at night and I could tell that the Bros. had no interest in fighting anyone.
Secondly, I only hid from Luigi out of reflex(gimme credit I was like, three inches tall!). And trust me, his sleeping record has ALWAYS been there! Dream Team is one of my favorite adventures that the Bros. went on!
And thirdly, the Bros. And I are NOT romantically involved nor are we related! I've explained in several of my posts that I met Mario when I was little during the goop incident(Super Mario Sunshine), and over time I slowly warmed up to him as a friend at first. And of course it naturally turned into a parent/child relationship as he kept protecting me from danger. I would talk even more about this, but I recommend you read through my posts for more info *insert shameless blog plug here*. ;P
Again, thanks for taking the time to read my story! My blog editor worked really hard on it to have it posted here! I also heard that she was recognized for it at her art school! Hope you enjoy the rest of your he blog! Blog ya soon!

Miss Princess Danielle Corona, the more I read your adventures, the more inspired I become! The Bros. take such good care of you, I'm almost jealous I can't physically live in the same world as you!
ReplyDeleteUwaaa, this growing family of yours is so close, do you consider yourself sisters with Princess Peach, Rosalina and Daisy? Does PomPom get along with Luna? I can only imagine how cute their interactions would be! ≧◡≦!!!
Please do continue writing more about your life! Will there be a sequel? I sure hope so! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
By the way! Do you accept fan art? I'd love to draw you sometime! (*^ - ^*) If so, where can I upload it and send it to you? I'd wanna show it off to the entire Mushroom Kingdom! They deserve to bask in your fame! (Kekeke, I hope this makes me your #1 fan, next to Mario and Luigi of course >:3c No one can beat how much they love you!)
Please reply when you can! Stay out of trouble, away from that nasty Bowser! ´ ▽ ` )ノ
Hi Ichigo Desu! Eeee!! I'm so flattered right now! I'm so happy to hear that I have a fan that's not in the Mushroom Kingdom! That just means my charm is working! To answer your question, yes, I adore Princess Peach! I consider her as a Motherly figure to me, kinda like how Mario is the Father figure and Luigi is my Bro. Daisy is an absolute JOY to be around! When I was younger and guys needed a babysitter, she was the first on the call list! And Rosalina... That gift to humanity! She helped me understand my powers as they were growing inside me, she even helped me find my wand! And yes Pompom and the Lumas get along great! ;)
DeleteAnd OMG I would love fan art! It always makes me so happy to see my fan's support! I'll be sure to find a way to set up a page as soon as I can!
Once again, thank you SOOO much! And don't worry, Bowser's got NOTHING on me! >:D Blog ya soon!
